5 days left!

It is right around the corner! I leave for my mission in just about 5 days. I have been going through every emotion, no joke! Happy, sad, excited, nervous, anxious- you name it. I am so thrilled to serve though! I have struggled to feel at peace this last week as I have realized that I am really leaving, but a huge wave of peace came over me today. I just know that serving a mission is the right thing! I have felt this great adversity leading up to this point and it gets stronger and stronger the closer I get to my mission, but at the same time I feel this added strength. I am so thankful for knowledge of who I am. That I am my Father in Heaven's daughter. I know He leads and guides us today! Whether the right place for us to be is on a mission, at school, or whatever- if we seek his guidance and put our trust in Him, He will lead us to the place that will bring us the most joy in the end. I know that the Lord lives and knows the details of our lives. He knows us individually and has given us hope- hope to know that even when things are bad, as we use His atonement and strive to be like Him we will one day be raised up and recieve all that our Father has. Lets make each day count- for today is the day for men to prepare to meet God! It is real. I know that we will one day stand before God and be judged by our works and our heart. Let's strive each day to be better that we will be able to stand with confidence at that day!

Makes me think of eternity. Life is happier, choices are clearer, and burdens are lighter when we keep the perspective of eternity and press on looking forward with that hope that we will one day rest and be free of hurt/sin because of our great Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Hands

This is one of my favorite pictures

Lose yourself

I had the best day today. Not because I did anything extraordinary but because I simply lost myself. I tried my best to focus on others today and had a blast doing it. I testify that loving others and serving them first is 100% better than serving ourselves. I have realized that everyone needs help! There is always some way we can help everyone- whether its a smile, listening to them, encouraging them, complimenting, helping them move, etc... There are so many ways to serve! I testify that if we fill our lives with service and strive to help our fellowman, that we will feel God's love even stronger. We will feel peace and confidence. We will feel more power and enrichment in our lives and we will truly become more and more like our savior. I know that God lives! He hears our prayers and stands ready to bless each of us. All He asks is to live like His son.

"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies" PROVERBS 31:10

President Gordon B. Hinckly stated

"To you women, I wish to issue a challenge tonight. That challenge is to rise to the stature of the divine within you. As you have been reminded, yours is a godly inheritance. “I am a child of God” is not an idle or meaningless statement. You were there “when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons [and daughters] of God shouted for joy.” (Job 38:7.) You brought some of that inheritance with you when you came “trailing clouds of glory … from God who is our home.” (William Wordsworth, “Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood,” st. 5.) You were there when “there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. …

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Rev. 12:7, 9.) You were among those who chose to follow the plan of Him who became our Redeemer rather than the plan of him who became our adversary. Great and marvelous is your place in the plan of God our Eternal Father.

His hands are stretched out STILL

" Will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you? Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me"
3 Nephi 9:13-14

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

"Find joy in every season"

This past winter has been so cold and chilly. Several of my roommates have been getting sick and I struggle to keep my balance walking outside on ice. I have had to dig deep and try to remember positive things about the winter season. I found some pictures that helped me remember! I am so grateful for the Winter season and how beautiful it is. I love the snow, the fun, and the rosy cheeks and nose that everyone comes home with! Winter is a blessing!

PRAY WITH FOLDED ARM AND BENDED KNEE

I have to admit I have sometimes been one to snuggle in my warm covers, close my eyes, and doze off while I attempt to pray to my Father in Heaven. Recently, I was reading in the book of Alma and a scripture jumped out to me that will forever change the way I pray. I read Alma 22:16-17

" But Aaron said unto him: If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt bow down before God, yea, if thou wilt repent of all thy sins, and will bow down before God, and call on his name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the hope which thou desirest.

And it came to pass that when Aaron had said these words, the king did bow down before the Lord, upon his knees; yea, even he did prostrate himself upon the earth, and cried mightily, saying:

O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee, and that I may be raised from the dead and be saved at the last day"

By praying on our knees and bowing our head, we are showing reverence and respect for our Heavenly Father who created the heavens and the earth and all things which dwell in them. Just as a servant will bow down to his king, we must bow down before our Father in Heaven. He is our supreme creator- let us all remember when we pray just WHO we are really talking to. We are communicating with the divine, with our creator. We are communicating with the most powerful individual of all. Prayer is so beautiful, and yet needs to be treasured and not be used as something to check off the list. I testify that like it says in the scripture above, that if we call upon His name in faith, believing that we shall receive, then we shall receive the hope and all things that we desire- that are expedient for us.

Another Testament of Christ

Read 3 Nephi 11-17

Let us all remember our Savior always and strive to be like Him. He lives! His hand is stretched out still. He loves you and I. All He asks is that we follow Him because He knows the ONLY way. He weeps when we weep; He knows us from the top of our head to the bottom of our toes. Strive to live like Him. Follow Him. He is our Beloved Savior, our elder brother. He is our friend. He knows every pain/heartache/affliction that we face. Turn to Him and He will provide us with everlasting peace!

Reflections of Christ Video

Isaiah 49: 15-16
"Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; they walls are continually before me."

Here are some tips I got from a Sister Missionary that I loved!

1. Keep a miracle journal- When times get hard it will help you remember just how involved the Lord is in our lives and how much he loves us.

2. Keep a testimony journal- have each of your companions write their testimony in your journal. You will appreciate this after the mission.

3. Obedience is so important. Keep in mind though, that you are human and if you mess up a time or two don't let it ruin your day. The Lord just asks for YOUR personal best. Why are we obedient? It is becuase we love the Lord and want to do what he asks of us. Try our best but don't let a mess up discourage you or interfere with the work.

4. Take the time to stop and remember where you are. Realize that you are in PORTUGAL and soak that in! Missionary work is busy but take the time to stop and smell the roses. Go grab a yummy pastry for lunch!

5. On Pdays- get out and see Portgual! You won't be there forever, get out and experience it!

6. Buy your hairdryer there- the converting plug doesn't work well with hairdryers.

7. You will probably feel like you don't know the gospel like you thought you did at times. Realize that this is normal. Don't be discouraged. Your knowledge of every detail of the gospel is not what will convert people- it is the spirit that will prick the people's hearts. Our job is to do our best and make sure we live so that we can always have the spirit to be with us. Teach with the spirit!

8. The Lord loves you too. You are going to be busy with worrying about your investigators and others and you will be immersed in the work. You are going to be doing a lot for others but don't forget that he loves you too. Just remember that!

9. Go to every meeting with a question about your investigators and one for you. If you pray to have these answered before you go, they will!

10. Exercise every morning that it is scheduled to. It will help you feel better and will invigorate your mind. Bring a jumprope in case you have a companion who doesn't like to go outside for a run.

11. Some missionaries focus more on fun then work. When you get involved in the work, the work becomes the fun. It is so fun seeing how the gospel changes others lives and it brings true joy. Make sure you are working hard and you will start to see how fun missionary work is!

12. Let the Lord mold and shape you. Don't change who you are, let Him mold you and help you grow. Try to become a better person, not a different one. He will lead you and guide you to what he wants you to become.

13. A necklace is too flashy or too much if it attracts more attention than your badge.
This is a beautiful video! I am so grateful for all of these girls who are willing to serve. I know that missionary work is a special and important duty. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to serve the Lord as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 18 months. I have already reaped so many blessings from choosing to serve a mission! There is an army of woman going out to the world. What an exciting time to be a sister missionary!

Here are some pictures of me throughout the whole pre-mission process!
Here are some cool pictures of Portugal!

I have been called to serve in the Portugal, Lisbon mission! I cannot find words to express how excited and humbled I am to share the gospel to the Portuguese people. My decision to serve a mission was an inspired one and I am so grateful for the guidance and direction from Heavenly Father that lead to me to where I am right now! I can't wait!
